==Biography==
===Early Life===
Maliko was born in [[Egregan]] to [[Sparkus]] and Mini Egregor. At three years old, Maliko was sent to the [[Redna]] College of Magic to ensure his safety away from the dangerous life of his father. At the school, Maliko showed himself to be a natural at the magic arts.
Sparkus Egregor, more commonly known as Sparky, was born somewhere in the snowy south of Gaushan, although where exactly is unknown. His Father, a fisherman, died whilst he was young and left his Mother to raise him. During his infancy, his mother travelled all across the continent avoiding the ongoing destruction caused by the Elyrian-Entente War. Searching for a safe place for her to raise her child, she heard of a settlement on an island just across the ocean. They called themselves The Anglers and were a group of fishermen. Believing that to be her safest place to raise Sparky, she worked hard day and night to earn enough for a boat to sail to this island. On the day that she planned to leave, a group of mercenaries caught up with her. It is not known why she was being hunted down. In a hurry and knowing she would not make it off the coast in time, she placed Sparky in the boat pushed it out to sea, hoping that he would land in safe arms. Afterwards she fled northwards and it is unknown what happened next.
===ArrivingDeath atof The AnglersSparkus===
Maliko was notified by Egregani Council about his fathers death and invited him to pay respects before his body was moved. Once Maliko arrived at [[The Sirens Wake]], next to his father he found piles upon piles of tomes and historical documents. The guardsmen informed Maliko that as his successor, [[Sparkus]] had left him is entire wealth and title to Egregan. In an official statement, Maliko handed over complete control of Egregan to the [[Republic of Lydoneia|Lydoneian]] House of Representatives and bought some estate in [[Taffasan]]
By a stroke of luck, Sparky's boat landed on the shore of The Anglers settlement where WilkoAC, the leader of the town, noticed the boat floating without any direction. After swiftly retrieving the boat, they noticed the child sound asleep in the hull. From that day forward, Sparky was brought up by the fishermen at The Anglers until his teenage years.

===Teenage YearsCurrent life ===
Maliko sent for the tomes and documents to be sent over to his newly purchased study, in hope that he could understand the ailment that took his fathers life. Once graduated, he set out his path along every Alathran road and trail to figure out the meaning for his fathers death and what he was fighting for or against.
After realising his profound crafting abilities, Sparky decided to build the settlements first tavern, the Sirens Wake. There he offered his services as a barkeep, speakeasy and also provided rooms for weary travelers. As the war progressed, it found itself on their island. Once the fighting was over, Emperor Sherman of Elyria himself came to their town to offer their apologies for bringing their problems to the island. This apology came with a bar of refined netherite alloy. This sparked an interest in Sparky; the more he studied the material, the more he longed to venture into the depths of the Nether to retrieve more.

===The Nether Accident===
<nowiki>***</nowiki> ''These were written by scribes detailing the actions of prominent figures throughout Alathra during the cataclysm'' <nowiki>***</nowiki>
Upon learning how to access the Nether, Sparky spent day and night to fashion his own glass portal. As he stepped inside, something went wrong and the portal imploded on its self just as Sparky had entered, trapping him in some in-between world of dirt and darkness and leaving him arm-less. In this dimensional anomaly, Sparky came face to face with a purple and blue disfigured version of himself in robes. It did not blink nor say anything but it also seemed to want to find a way out. After days of looking for a way out, he heard whispers much like his mothers and before he knew it he was brought back into existence, laid on his floor among the shards of volcanic glass. Days went by as the distraught young man slumped into a depression until one night he was awoken by the sound of footsteps in the tavern. Rushing to his sword, he jumped into the hall to halt the intruder only to find no one there other than a crumble of obsidian and the smell of his mothers cooking. This feeling of homeliness drove his decision to find his mother from that day on. Realising he was useless without an arm, Sparky purchased the schematics for a mechanical arm from a wandering trader and crafted himself a new one.

===Shadow= ArcEarly days ====
Maliko had grown hateful of the world for many years, for he had found naught about his deceased fathers illness nor the events that preceded his own birth.
After successfully creating a Nether portal, Sparky traversed the hostile wastes in search of the ancient netherite debris. Bringing home plenty of this shrapnel from another dimension, he got to work and created his first netherite ingots . When the traders came to town he managed to sell a singular piece for more than his entire tavern was worth. One such trader was none other than a prominent Elyrian general by the name of [REDACTED]. They had come to speak to Sparky about their woes in the battles of the past and present, and Sparky let them air out their sorrows. After the drunken [REDACTED] left, Sparky saw a shadowy purple-blue cloaked apparition lurk behind the Town Hall, however dismissed it as he wasn't exactly sober himself.

He had wandered these lands for decades, searching ruin after ruin, library after library, consulted researcher and historians alike. Maliko learned many things however. Magics lost to time and knowledge scholars could only dream of were at his disposal and yet... nothing. Walking along the ground that had been scarred by wars past and present, Maliko had seen it all. He wasn't his father though, he kept to himself and swore never to get involved with anything until he had his answers.
Later that night the apparition approached Sparky on the docks. He introduced himself as herald of the God [[Occidere]]. What went on during this conversation is unknown, however the herald had managed to twist his mind into darkness and shadows. Soon after that night, reports came up all over [[Gaushan]] and [[Koganon]] of a unrecognisable hooded figure that went by the name The_Dominion. They traveled far and wide to the most influential people they could find to pass around The Shadow Tomes, texts that served as a narrative but propaganda laden story of the rise of the shadows and their eventual take over of Alathra. Not much is known about the whereabouts of the tomes other than that they seem to be in the position of a few individuals.

It was only a few years ago that Maliko had realised that the birthmark on his shoulder was not that at all, but marked upon him by the very same thing that afflicted Sparkus himself. He could feel the grin coming from that damned red dot behind the moon.
After many altercations, The_Dominion was finally slain and the shadows expelled from Sparky's body by [REDACTED]. The shadows fell silent, or at least thats how it seemed.

That was very night the news came.
===[[Egregan]]===

==== The beginning of the end ====
After realising how much damage had been caused by his almost fanatical actions, Sparky decided to take his amassed wealth and found his own town, a fortress city built with the exact opposite pretense to what his once shadow/planet/god master believed in. It is common knowledge that powered by pure retribution, Sparky managed to gather the materials and construct the Great Egregan Wall in as little as 3 days. Afterwards, he rested and began to build his wealth again from the netherite market, and is currently one of the richest citizens of Alathra.
Shamans and seers alike called out their cries. Fate altering energies! At first many were skeptical, only hearing from their local priests and tellers. Forces undoing! Then came the same news from abroad and people began to grow weary. Unfathomable doom! Incompatible religions and sects in unison broadcasting the same notion. A war we cannot fight! The end is nigh!

People, as they always do when it comes to cataclysmic events, panicked. They believed that rioting and disorder was the perfect thing to do when told that their world is going to end. Maliko didn't. He let out a sigh of relief instead. As the inevitable wars broke out between governments, and rituals were initiated to "soften the blow" of total annihilation, it just meant he would find it easier to continue his research. The global superpowers gave up on their lands and only sought to destroy others so it was much easier to find what he was looking for. But Maliko had changed his focus onto something else.
Having finished Egregans main infrastructure, Sparky appointed himself King of Egregan and announced the start of the Egregani Foundation which allowed Sparky to invest his funds into the world of Alathra, offering bursaries to anyone willing to build or create a service that will better every single Alathran.

That damned red dot behind the moon.
=== Mid-life ===
Once settled in, Sparkus began to build his new life. He met a barmaid on his journeys and the two of them fell in love immediately. They held a ceremony in private on the docks of the old Anglers settlement. Not long after came the news that the couple were expecting a child. Fearing the worst outcomes of global political unrest, Sparkus immediately started the proceedings to send it off to the [boarding school name] where they could guarantee safety. Once the child had grown up to three years of age, they were sent off to [boarding school name] in hopes that the world will be a better place when they grow up.

==== Ancient spells ====
Sparkus had begun to notice that over those 3 years, he had grown much older than the average Alathran. Believing it to be the last curse Occidere could place on him before his imprisonment, Sparkus set out to discover a cure. Day and night the king would work tirelessly on his experiments, contacting the likes of [[Ra'thra]] and [[Orthigo]] in the [[Pater Carnis Arc]]. As his work progressed, he grew more and more mad, forcing his wife to leave him. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
Maliko got to work on something unheard of. It was ambitious and had next to no chance of working, but it was something he was willing to give up his life for. He had most of the materials he needed from his little shopping  spree around the world and from the times he had "borrowed" from major institutions. There was one thing however that he had intentionally left one thing out. It lay buried behind an old pub in the south.

Once Maliko had reached what is now called [[Blackrose]], he entered his fathers resting place. [[The Sirens Wake]] still stood tall after many decades. Memories flashed before him. As a child, Maliko was rarely allowed to see Sparkus due to his high profile engagements and threats of war. The times he did see him was when they would both meet here. Those were the only moments where he truly felt like a child; sneaking onto the roof with the other village kids, throwing snowballs at passer-bys, being scolded by his father only for him to ruffle his hair and show him how to make a proper one.
=== Death ===
After the death of Ra'thra, all hope was lost to Sparkus. Days went past where no one had seen him until his last public appearance atop his balcony. His aged self reassured the populous that he was still their leader and was fit to rule, and they had nothing to fear. Reports say that later that night he rode off towards [[The Library]] where he promptly made off with a wagon full of tomes and passages.

Nowadays the town was barren. The children, all grown up and shipped off to whatever war was current, the elderly long gone and those that remain hiding behind boarded up windows bracing for the next raider attack.
Two months later it was announced that a search party had found the deceased ruler propped up against his old bar [[The Sirens Wake]] in the Anglers settlement, his body more akin to an elderly man. His people will forever remember him as a benevolent leader, always for the people regardless of his flaws.

A tear rolled down his face, but the sharp air reminded him that grief isn't just the pain of losing someone, but its the love we still have for them. Holding on and giving us something to learn from.
== Trivia ==

Once dug up, Maliko placed his fathers prosthetic in his satchel. Whilst it was his fathers, the sight of the unworldly technology sickened him and its pulsating purple glow made his very bones ache. But he needed it for what came next.
* One day a cat arrived at the Egregan gates named "Cat" and was tamed to Sparky. Despite having no recollection of owning this animal, Sparky decided to keep it and to this day it stands guard at the gates.

* Egregan is derived from the Latin Word "egregie" meaning "Brilliant".
==== The Last Ritual ====
* You can notice Sparky's mechanical left arm from underneath his robe. However, don't ask him to show you as he is sensitive about it.
It was midnight. Maliko placed down his runes, set up his machine, and pitched the divining rods into the ground. He was ready.
* Sparky considers brewing alcohol as one of the fine arts.

The landscape was ruined now. Days after days of meteoric barrage had turned the land into something foreign from what lay there before. Fault lines had ruptured, splitting continents and shifting others. The air was now toxic, and the only beings still on the surface were only the most powerful. But much like the population that took refuge under the surface, they too were aware of their unlikely survival. The stage was set. Unrelenting power surged through Maliko as he stood upon the platform and placed his hand upon the alter. The machine whistled, runic circuits flickered and a beam of light pierced the sky from below. A haunting laugh echoed around the world, turning the beam of light from white to red.

Maliko, stood vulnerable, felt the power pour away from him. The ritual sacrifice was his own.

"What does the son of Sparkus want with me! Are you too ashamed of your world collapsing around you that you have to pester me! I have watched you grow powerful, and yet you refuse to help your people in these days of end?"

The pure red figure stood before him. Maliko chuckled to himself and locked eyes with the god.

"Occidere we finally meet. Its been a long time coming"

Maliko lashed out towards the god, and was swiftly batted away. Fortunately, Maliko had hoped for this, as he had placed binding runes around the entire area. This meant that the god could not retreat until Maliko wanted.

"Is this your last ditch attempt at god-hood Maliko, youre smart enough to know thats not how this works"

But he didnt want to ascend to a higher state. No, Maliko wanted the opposite. He had bound the god to the mortal state. He ran towards the machine, and flicked the switch and ran. A bubble of void energies surrounded the god, trailing up the beam of light and shattering the surface of the red celestial body.

A huge explosion engulfed the void bubble, and not long was it outdone by the one behind the moon. Occidere, bewildered, looked up to the planet by the same name. In its place was a cloud of red dust. He didnt say much. Instead, a defeated smile plastered his face, for he now knew that these would be his final hours.

Maliko had ensured that the future survivors of Alathra would never have to endure the suffering of the god, nor have that ugly red spot spy on them from behind the moon. In his last few hours left on this world, he did a much smaller ritual. He took the arm out of the machine and held it high, the energy it had absorbed from the god would be key in this.

The sky was dark now, the meteors now taking up the entire sky. At the Sirens Wake, Maliko placed his fathers arm down on the chair and began the incantations. This spell would ensure the legacy his father had left with him would survive the end of the world.

"Hundreds of thousands of years will pass, father. A child shall be born bearing your name and it shall live a life you were robbed of. I hope to meet you when that time comes"

Then Maliko went to Homotown and died on the beach with all his friends <blockquote>The End</blockquote>
