== Etymology ==
The terminology of a "Solar Empire" comes from the [[Solaris]] belief that the more devout and faithful one is to the Sun God Erses, the more "Solar" - or Holy - one is. The population of the Empire were infused with previously missing faith in religion following the Great Sacrilege which led to the Second Crusade against Pater Carnis. This was the adopted name of the "Solar Empire of Pyrrhia" before the absorption of the F.C.A. on March 23rd in which the Empire was officially renamed the Solar Empire of Arith.

The Empire claims the right to being the only Solar Empire to exist, as per the Solar Codex there can only be one Solar Emperor, and that is the ruler of Pyrrhia of the line of Elchsdringen.

The subsequent overthrow of the government of the F.C.A. received wide international condemnation as many of the historically pro-F.C.A. cities in the East such as Redwood, Hightide and Uhovia seceded from the newly formed Empire and began planning retaking the East through military campaign, which would begin three days after the formation of the Empire on March 26th. From the time between the beginning of the Arith Crisis and the establishment of the Empire, Imperial officials, particularly Tartarus himself, sought peaceful recompense with the newly reformed F.C.A. in the East, all of which were failed negotiations.

The Crisis began on March 26th with the declaration of war on the Empire by the new F.C.A, and a subsequent response from Solar Emperor Melevor denouncing the F.C.A. as aggressive and unwilling to take peaceful options into consideration. Following this both the nations of the League (many of which were former F.C.A. citizens), and Ashina declared war on the Empire. The Crisis was short lasting, ending on March 29th after successful negotiations between F.C.A. Chancellor Cody and Solar Emperor Melevor at Arith Market following the death of Tartarus. The Treaty of Arith (to be signed) saw the relinquishing of all Solarian territories East of the Arith Market, the establishment of an International zone around the market and clearly defined spheres of influence.

The Crisis has left the young Empire extremely disdainful of much of the world, both those who participated in aggression against it and those who supported this aggression, and it has subsequently entered a period of "splendid isolation" to work on rebuilding settlements, integrating it's new territories and growing economic power.

=== Great Power Status ===
Following the Arith Crisis, the Empire quickly began efforts to connect and integrate it's new territories. An Imperial Roadway project was announced, and has already connected the three major cities of the Empire: Pyrrhus, Sun Harvest and Invictus, with further connections to built off the main roads now laid. The Imperial Roadway was lauded by the Government and citizens alike as the first of it's kind in the world - large, paved, and well-lit roads across large portions of land, this has given the Empire an edge on modernisation efforts against most of the rest of the world.

Further modernisation and development efforts have been undertaken by the Emperor and the Government, with large amounts of effort being poured into demolishing the old capital of Melevorgrad, and rebuilding the city in the image of an Imperial Capital with large, ornate and beautifully coloured buildings as compared to the grey and bleak Melevorgrad. Following a deal made between the Government and the Solar Trading Company it was additionally agreed that the city of Carrig, the seat of the company's owner, would also be redesigned in the Imperial style similar to Solar Pyrrhus.

With growing economic and stability at home, the Empire emerged from it's splendid isolation far quicker than expected, and began meddling in the international stage, with it's first major act being the conversion of the Legion (now Eldia) to the Solarian Faith, and the subsequent crowning of Zodd "Mithras" Angolmois as Solar King of Eldia. This conversion cemented the alliance and friendship between the two hardened peoples of Pyrrhia and Eldia, forming a strong bond which would be tested in the coming weeks. During the Gaushan Wars Period, the small city-state of Ironhill converted to the Solarian faith under pressure by Eldia, which then stood in defence of the city-state against the large Stahlfaustian Empire which laid claim to the land the city was built upon. This started a war between Eldia and Stahlfaust which would see the sacking of Snowport and the martyring of Saint Robbert Angolmois, Zodd's half-brother. Appalled by the fighting in Gaushan, direct edicts from the Solar Emperor commanded all mercenaries within the Empire to offer assistance to Eldia for the lowest prices possible, supplying the Solar Dominion with well-trained and equipped specialists to turn the tide of the war. The entrance of the Solarian mercenaries brought the war to a standstill as both the Stahlfaustian mercenaries hired from Artorias and the Free Cities of Alathra were equally matched against the Solarians. Following an agreement by all mercenaries involved in the war, it was decided to let the warring powers to fight the war themselves, and not rely on the steel of others. The withdrawal of mercenary forces allowed Eldia, Aegiskey and Elyria to lay siege to various cities around Stahlfaust including the outskirts of the capital, Arctanis. The war was concluded with reparations being afforded to Eldia, and Stahlfaust being annexed by Elyria.

== Religion ==
The Empire - as per the Solar Constitution, and rules of the Emperor - has a sole religion, the Solarian faith which is embodied in the Solar Ecclesiarchy of Erses. Other religions are forbidden to be practiced or preached within Imperial territories, and those who preach these religions are usually deported to their homelands. Severe violations of these rules - human sacrifice, void-worship and banditry - usually end in detainment by the Solarian Inquisition and interrogation, which is followed by execution at the stake.
