'What is war? Tragic? Sometimes. Demoralizing? Certainly. But what else is it? It is the lifeblood of this world. Imagine a world of peace. What will happen when the last empire fades; when the way of the conqueror is blotted out; when the world is united in perfect peace? What will their be for the nations to struggle against? What will there be for them to strive towards? What will there be to push them together? What will there be to produce great nations? When the last war is finished, and the world is left without conflict, the nations will slowly fade to dust. The denizens of Alathra will say to one another 'this world is dying'. They will set for the seas and leave these lands. Our history will be buried under the ruins of an old world. Every cause, every crusade, every crown, gone. Every final battle and final stand, gone. Camestres' father was the brother of Tilly Angolmois (both being nobles of house Angolmois). His mother was a born citizen of the Eldian people. His father was descended directly from the Aquendavian nobility, while his mother carried Eldian blood.
