Porzhport is a unique city state that occupies the entirety of the island of Porzh, nestled off the south-east coast of Prsata. Originally established by a collective of immigrants who sought refuge from the ravages of the early war-torn Adelaar, Porzhport today continues to embody its founding principles, striving to be a safe haven for both its inhabitants and their descendants.

The island of Porzh is known for its natural beauty and strategic geographical location. Surrounded by warm, turquoise waters and adorned with greenery, Porzhport acts as a contrast to the nearby deserts that make up the majority of southern Prsata.

Geography

Location

Situated in the southeastern regions of Prsata, off the coast of Degli Tashlar, the island of Porzh is renowned for its diverse ecosystem. Within its landscapes and forests, Porzh is home to an array of notable species, including elephants, ocelots and colorful parrots. The island's abundant wildlife adds to its allure and attracts nature enthusiasts from around the world.

Porzhport, the city built on the island, holds a fascinating history rooted in the remnants of an abandoned tribal town, whose origins remain uncertain. Over time, Porzhport has grown into a large port city.

Exploring the waters surrounding Porzh reveals the presence of several minor islands. One such island is Fort Sondor, located just off the southern coast of Porzh. The island has historically served as an important relic for the people of the region.

Economy

Resources

Porzhport, like many areas within and around Prsata, contains large deposits of Solar Gold. The material has since become a major export for the island, contributing majorly to its economy.

The people of Porzhport have historically had an artisanal culture centered around food and fashion, with the commerce within the island's urban areas coming to reflect this. The city boasts a large marketplace, visted and stocked by residents and foreign traders alike.

Additionally, Porzh's waters are rich in fish, which are cultivated at the docks in spawning pools. This approach to fishing ensures the preservation of marine ecosystems while meeting the demand for fresh seafood.

Trade

The town council of Porzhport plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade and commerce within the city. Beyond offering essential goods like food, the council also engages in the sale of materials and niche items, catering to the needs and interests of the residents.

In addition to the council's activities, Porzhport boasts various markets that serve as hubs for international trade. These markets provide a platform for individuals from all corners of the world to showcase and sell their wares. From unique handicrafts and exotic spices to rare collectibles and international delicacies, the markets of Porzhport offer a fusion of cultures, giving both locals and travelers to a diverse shopping experience.

Located on the north side of the island, the shipyard of Porzhport offers an extensive selection of vessels, ranging from large seafaring ships to smaller, more agile crafts. This array of ships caters to the needs of traders, explorers, and maritime enthusiasts, providing them with the means to navigate the world's oceans and engage in global commerce.

Diplomacy

Flag

According to the Porzhan government, the colours of the nation's flag symbolise "the values that every Porzhan citizen should aspire to embody". These colours are described as meaning:

  • "Purple stands as a symbol of independence, reflecting the spirit of self-reliance and individuality cherished by the Porzhan people. It signifies the freedom to express oneself and pursue personal aspirations, encouraging citizens to embrace their uniqueness and take pride in their accomplishments. However, the color purple can also be interpreted as extravagance, reminding individuals to exercise moderation and avoid excesses that may undermine their independence."
  • "Yellow embodies the value of hope for the future, serving as a beacon of optimism and inspiration for Porzhan citizens. It represents a positive outlook, encouraging resilience in the face of challenges and a belief in the possibility of a better tomorrow. The color yellow serves as a reminder that, no matter the present circumstances, there is always room for growth, progress, and the realization of dreams."
  • "White symbolizes peace and stability, highlighting the importance of harmony and tranquility within the community. It represents the desire for unity, understanding, and cooperation among Porzhan citizens. The color white serves as a reminder that fostering peaceful relationships and maintaining stability is essential for the overall well-being and prosperity of the community as a whole."

History

According to historians, the island was known by its original inhabitants as Enezenn.

Much of the island's early history can be found within the island's catacombs, a large network of tunnels underneath the island which are said to have been inhabited by the original natives of the island. The island's leadership deliberately conceals the entrance to the catacombs from the public eye, tightly restricting access for historians and researchers. Their motivations for this are unknown. This has led to many within the island forming their own myths and conspiracies surrounding the catacombs.

In addition to the catacombs, Porzh boasts an offshore fortress, once ravaged and reduced to rubble long before the arrival of settlers. Efforts were undertaken to restore and refurbish the fortress, transforming it into a stronghold capable of defending the nation and the archipelago. To this day, no traces of the fortress's former occupants remain, with their presence being lost to time.
